Rita Bielicki Evans went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 30, 2018. Her proudest accomplishments were those of being a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother.
Rita was born October 21, 1931 to the late Thomas L. Bielicki, Sr. and Stella Sawicki Bielicki in St. Louis, MO, where she graduated from St. Elizabeth’s Academy and DePaul Hospital School of Nursing. She married the love of her life, the late Charles M. “Chuck” Evans, Sr., eleven days after meeting him. After the family moved to North Carolina in 1971, she worked as a nurse in the Wake Medical Center Emergency Department and N.C. Central Prison.
Rita loved traveling, spending time by the ocean, and especially pier fishing with her family. She was actively involved with activities her children participated in, often serving as team mom or scorekeeper for their sports teams. She and her husband, Chuck, volunteered selflessly with the Cary High Band Boosters for several years, were dedicated members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cary from its earliest days and enjoyed many years of fellowship and service with the Knights of Columbus. Rita enjoyed creating and sharing her knitted and crocheted creations and won several N.C. State Fair ribbons throughout the years.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Charles M Evans, Sr.; her daughter, Rita Marie Evans; son Michael E. Evans; daughter-in-law, Cindy Evans; great-granddaughter, Katilyn Crannell; and brother Thomas L. Bielicki, Jr.
She is survived by her sons, Martin G. Evans (Colleen) of Cary; Charles M. “Chuck” Evans, Jr. (Susan) of Apex; Kevin J. Evans of Cary; Justin A. Evans of Cary and daughter, Bridget E. Kennedy (Wayne) of Louisburg; daughters-in-law, Lisa Evans of Cary and Hollace Evans of Raleigh; 15 grandchildren, Siobhan, Jacquelyn; Marisa (Jonathan), Sydney; Hannah (Doug), Charles; Eliza; Lauren (Matt), Mick; Rita (Chad), Chris (Ashley), D.J. (Dalilalynn), Jonathan, Stephanie (Stanley), and Brandon; 6 great-grandchildren, Jade; Lindsay; Samantha; Ayden; Tyler; and Gabriel; and brother Dennis J Bielicki (Sharon) of San Marcos, CA.
A Funeral Mass will be held 12 pm Friday, October 5, 2018 at Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 804 High House Road, Cary, NC 27513. She will be buried with her late husband at sea at a later date. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church and afterwards at the family home.
