Ruth Wilson Rachels Lane

Ruth was born September 11, 1924 in Scotland County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Will P. Rachels and Rena Farmer Rachels. Ruth was a graduate of High Point University with a major in religious education. She worked for many years in the DH Hill Library at North Carolina State University. Ruth was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cary.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Silas Grady Lane; and sister, Katie R. Bunch.

She is survived by her daughters, Sarah Lane of Raleigh; Carol Lane of Raleigh; Joy Hoke and her husband, William R. Hoke, Jr. of High Point; and Janet Hiatt of High Point; 4 grandchildren, Emily Hiatt; Jill Hiatt; Erin Miller and her husband, Rob; and Justin Hoke; and 1 great-grandchild, Will Miller.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday, July 23, 2012 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home Chapel, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. The family will receive friends 10:30 am -11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow the service at 3:30pm at Mount Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Pinnacle, NC.
