

Sandra attended public school in Nash County.
She married Roger Shearin on February 2, 1963 at the Salvation Army Church in Rocky Mount, NC, and they were happily married for 57 years.
Sandra begin her employment in Rocky Mount, NC at the Rocky Mount Undergarment. In 1973, the family moved to Cary and Sandra went to work shortly thereafter with Wake County Public Schools driving a school bus and working in school cafeterias across the county. She enjoyed much of this service at Farmington Woods Elementary and then at Athens High School. It was at Farmington Woods that she earned the nickname of “Miss Sunshine”. Sandra retired from the school system in January of 2008. She enjoyed spending time working in the yard and the flower beds with Roger. She and Roger were active collectors of Hallmark ornaments and members of the National and local Hallmark club for 30 years. They traveled to many national Hallmark conventions making friends along the way.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Felton Shearin, her father and her mother. She is survived by a daughter, Karen Shearin Barbour and husband Jim of Wilmington, NC; a son, Roger Keith Shearin and wife, Teresa of Clayton, NC; grandchildren, Kandice Barbour Sweetman (Jordan) of Alton, Illinois; Justin Barbour (Danielle) of Wilmington, NC; and Katherine Shearin and her mother Carol Shearin of Raleigh, NC. Great-granddaughter, Karoline Sweetman. Sandra also is survived by her siblings; Ronnie (Allen) Bunn & Jean of Macclesfield, NC; Carolyn Barefoot of Rocky Mount, NC; Gail Shearin of Rocky Mount, NC and Jimmy Taylor of Rocky Mount, NC; She also has 30 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews; close family friend of more than 55 years, Charlotte Wiggins of Raleigh, NC; and special friend Kay Maningas of Raleigh, NC
The family will have a Memorial Service at 11:00 am, on Saturday, January 23 at Landmark Baptist Church, 9011 Chapel Hill Road, Cary, NC
