March 4, 1950 – March 9, 2025
Sharon Smith, 75, passed away peacefully in Cary, North Carolina, shortly after celebrating her birthday. Born on March 4, 1950, in New Hanover County, NC, Sharon lived a full and meaningful life in both North Carolina and Baltimore, Maryland.
She is survived by her husband, Kirk Smith; her daughters, Dawn Bean and her husband Nelson, and Alexandra Murphy and her husband Matthew; her grandchildren, Jonathan Bean and Michael Murphy; and her sister, Pamela Dwyer and her husband William. She was preceded in death by her loving parents.
A dedicated and accomplished executive assistant, Sharon worked for several companies throughout her career, including Gregory Poole Equipment Company and Golden Corral Corporation. However, the majority of her professional years were spent working for her favorite boss, Gary Cram, the CEO of Buehler Motor. She found great fulfillment in her work and was known for her impeccable style, professionalism, and unwavering dedication.
Beyond her career, Sharon had a deep love for gardening—her happiest moments were spent with her hands in the dirt, nurturing life from the ground up. She cherished simple pleasures, like sipping coffee in the early morning while watching North Carolina birds gather at her feeders.
Sharon also had a soft spot for poodles, treasured memories of her childhood pet duck, and a special love for the magic of Christmas. She was and will always be proud of her strong, loving daughters.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22, at 10:30 AM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary to celebrate Sharon’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
