Susan McCarthy Levy

Our wonderful mother, Susan McCarthy Levy, passed away August 3, 2025. She was 72. And what a mother she was! Homeschooling us kids, but only until the neighbor would call to chat; finding new pools each summer to swim (she loved to swim); dessert every night, despite her insistence that “the kitchen is closed!”; patiently sitting through years of little-league baseball and hours of “tarantula” on the piano; easter egg hunts all year long. Her greatest desire was for her children to know and love the Lord. As adults, her constant encouragement to us was “I know you can do it.” Her friends will remember her genuine kindness and welcoming smile.

Susan will be greatly missed by her husband of 44 years, Jack, with whom she loved to walk the local greenways; her children Ruth (Ben) Thompson and Nathan (Taylar) Levy; and her two grandchildren, “Dolly” and “LJ.” Susan is survived by her sister, Patricia (Greg) Kissel; her niece, Mary Kissel; and her brother, James McCarthy.

Viewing and visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 on Friday, August 8, 2025, at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, 27511.

Family and friends are welcome at the home of Jack Levy following the visitation.
