Born on October 17, 1960, Teresa lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others. She made her home in Fuquay-Varina with her beloved daughter, Shanon Slade; her son-in-law, Matthew Slade; and her granddaughter, Scarlett. Teresa was a devoted mother to Shanon Slade and Kristin Brannen, and her son in laws Matthew Slade and Jeffrey Brannen, and a proud, loving grandmother to Reese and Scarlett. She was also joyfully awaiting the arrival of another grandchild for Shanon and Matthew. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life, and she cherished every moment she spent with them.
Teresa is survived by her partner, Doug, and her loving siblings: her sister, Mary Eckstine, and her brother-in-law, David Eckstine; her brother, Max Philip Icenhour, and his partner, Connie; and her brother, Michael Icenhour, and sister-in-law, Jenny Icenhour. She also leaves behind her cherished nieces and nephews, Jessica Bailey, Daniel Icenhour, Ginny Ryan, Taylor McNeely, Amy Lechner, Lauren Icenhour, and Grayson Icenhour, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Virginia Icenhour, and will now have a joyful heavenly reunion with them.
A devoted Christian, Teresa’s faith guided her throughout her life. She had a deep love for music and cherished every opportunity to gather with family and friends. Known as the life of the party, Teresa never met a stranger and could talk to anyone — a trait that brought laughter, connection, and countless unforgettable conversations. Her warmth, humor, and vibrant personality made everyone feel welcome. Her sister Mary Eckstine was not only family but her very best friend, and their bond was one she treasured deeply.
Teresa dedicated much of her professional life to nursing, focusing on long-term healthcare. She cared for her patients with compassion, dignity, and kindness, and she viewed each one as family. Her nurturing heart and unwavering commitment left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Teresa will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her joyful spirit, her boundless love for her family, and the light she brought into every room. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
