Theo Thomas Adams

Theo is preceded in death by her husband J.D. Adams of Cary, NC. She is survived by her son Duane and daughter Connie (both of Cary, NC); son Steven and wife Julie of Apex, NC; and grandchildren Adam Kennedy and wife Grace of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and Lainie and Jackson of Apex, NC. She is also survived by her sisters Peggy Padgett of Raleigh, NC; and Clair Rosencrantz of St. Louis, MO.

Theo was born in Maysville, NC on September 13, 1932 to Jeremiah Manly and Lavinia Hudson Thomas. She married J.D. Adams in November 1950; and started a family while he was working for Sinclair Oil Co. in Jacksonville, NC. They moved to Cary, NC in August 1957.

Theo was a devoted wife, and loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, gardening and the beach. She loved basketball and was an all-star guard on her high school team. She worked at Lufkin Tools; and was a vital part of building a family-owned business. She was active in many civic groups and a member of the Cary Bowling League Club of Cary and made lifelong friendships. She doted on her grandchildren and they will miss their “Mema” so much.

The family would like to thank her care giver Lynn or “Lulu” as Mema called her and all others who were there for her.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC, 27511; with memorial service immediately after. Graveside service will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery on Page St., Cary, NC 27511.
