Tom was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1950. His family moved to Los Gatos, California in 1960. He attended Bishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California. He graduated with a business degree from San Jose State University. He received a Master's Degree from John Hopkins University and a second Master's Degree from the University of Utah.
Tom served honorably in the US Army for twenty years where he achieved the Rank of Major. After retiring from the military he worked for the NC Department of Labor until he retired.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Gail O'Connell, their two sons Brian and Matthew, his daughter-in-law Sierra, five grandchildren, nine brothers and sisters, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, March 4, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27511.
A funeral service will be held at Saint Michael the Archangel Church in Cary North Carolina on Thursday, March 10, at 12 in the afternoon, 804 High House Rd., Cary, NC 27513.
