

Thomas Michael Shoemaker was born on January 31, 1947 to Kenneth Monroe Shoemaker and Ruth Elizabeth Williams Shoemaker. He grew up in Concord, NC and Albemarle, NC. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother Ken.
He served in the United States Marine Corps (working in aviation electronics) from February 1966 until February 1970, and then served in the Marine Corp Reserves until February 1972. He received a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnamese Campaign Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, a Vietnamese Service Medal with 2 stars, a Presidential Unit Citation and a Rifle Marksmanship Badge. He then worked for IBM for 30 years and moved into various other jobs after his retirement from IBM.
Mike met Linda Bolch in 1968 and they were married on August 4, 1968. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary and still enjoyed spending time together with family and friends, eating out, talking with each other and watching their favorite shows. He also enjoyed playing golf, cooking, and going to their timeshare at Nags Head with family each summer for the last 42 years. Mike and Linda have been members at The Shepherd’s Church for 22 years; during which Mike served as an usher as long as he was able and as a Bible study leader for 21 years. He enjoyed cooking each week for his men’s Bible study group as well. He was generous with his time, talents, and finances.
He is survived by his wife Linda Shoemaker; his daughter Whitney Andrew and her husband Lee Andrew; his grandchildren Caleb Andrew, Tabitha Andrew, and Preston Andrew; and his cousins in Albemarle, NC.
A Memorial service will be on November 3, 2023 at 2 PM at The Shepherd’s Church in Cary, NC.
