Her family cherishes the time they had with her.
Valerie grew up on Long Island, New York, the youngest of three children to Al and Louise Hammer. She attended college at SUNY Plattsburgh and received her Bachelor of Science in 1984. In 1985 she moved to Albany, New York to be with her soon to be life partner and husband Jim Obremski. They got married, started a family, and embarked on a 34-year long journey that would take Valerie far from her Long Island roots. In 1987 the family moved to North Carolina and Valerie determined that this would be her new home. For the next 20 years she was prominent in her children's activities, always cheering them on and supporting them - spending lots of time initially with equestrian activities and then moving on to the soccer fields. She was employed for over 15 years as a Laboratory Analyst at ENCO in Cary. She loved spending time with her immediate and extended family, gardening and traveling.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Philip Hammer. She is survived by her sister Barbara Angelovich, her husband Jim, 3 daughters, Shannon McLoughlin, Erin Obremski, and Jamie Obremski, a grandson Leo McLoughlin and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5th, 2019, at 2:00 pm in the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home. 200 SE Maynard Rd. Cary, NC 27511.
