William Jerry Adams, Sr. (78) born March 31, 1937, passed away peacefully the evening of February 29, 2016. Jerry was born and raised in Pine Bluff, NC and spent most of his life in Cary, where he served as a Captain in the YRAC Fire Department and later as the founder and first Chief of the Cary Area Rescue Squad.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 siblings, all of Pine Bluff, NC, and his wife of 53 years, Ellen Johnson Adams. He is survived by children Deborah (Terry) and William Adams Jr; grandchildren Chris, Ben, Molly, Amanda and Will; step-grandson Nick; great-granddaughter Leah; his beloved wife Betty, many nieces, nephews and a lifetime's worth of dear friends and family members.
A memorial for Mr. Adams will be held at White Plains United Methodist Church, 313 Maynard Rd, Cary, at 2:00pm on this Sunday, March 6, 2016. A reception at the church will immediately follow.
