

He was born January 22, 1945 in Philadelphia, a son of Richard and Virginia Cox.
Surviving are his loving wife, Diane Cox of Cary, his three children, William Cox, Kathy March, and Thomas Cox, and their mother Joan McConnell Cox, and three stepchildren, Kerry Thompson, Matt Thompson, and Dean Thompson, and 12 adoring grandchildren.
Bill had a successful career as a sales manager with various chemical companies such as Pennwalt, Celanese, Reichhold Chemicals and United Chemicals of Belgium, UCB. He is remembered by his colleagues and staff for his inspiration, wisdom, and guidance. He enjoyed taking classes at Duke, Carolina and NCSU. He taught philosophy for Lifelong Education at NCSU and was a volunteer mentor for disadvantaged children. He loved reading, gardening, and woodworking. But mostly he loved being a husband, father, grandfather and friend. His kindness and positive spirit will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Tuesday evening, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, on Maynard Road in Cary. A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the funeral home with a visitation one hour prior.
