

at her home in Casa Grande, Arizona.
She was born in Paterson, New Jersey, on March 11, 1935, to Joseph Streuli and Alberta
May (Meyers) Streuli. She was raised in Paterson and was educated in catholic schools
there, graduating from high school in 1954.
She married Raymond Ashton in April 1954. To this union were born seven children, whom
they raised in Paterson, and in northeast Pennsylvania, and in eastern Massachusetts. After
this marriage ended she married Roger Berke in 1987 in College Station, Texas. After Roger
died of cancer in 1992, Dorothy married John Heaslet of South Houston, Texas, in 1993.
When John died of a cerebral hemorrhage in 2000, Dorothy moved to Michigan's Upper
Peninsula to be near her daughter Karen, and spent winters in Casa Grande with her
daughter Kathy. In 2010 she met and married Robert Rieder of Casa Grande. They divided
their time seasonally between Michigan and Arizona. Robert died of Alzheimer's disease in
2019. In 2022 Dorothy became a permanent resident of Casa Grande.
Dorothy loved crocheting, sewing, and quilt making. She crocheted a wedding bouquet for
her granddaughter in Michigan. With Roger in Texas she knitted and assembled hundred of
small dolls for charity. She spent hours each day reading and was fond of solving
crossword puzzles.
Dorothy was predeceased by her daughter Dorothy (Fritz) Andrews and a granddaughter
Tacy Rae (Michael) Richardson. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and
Edward Streuli.
Dorothy is survived by a brother, James (Sue) Streuli, and by six children: Karen (Robert)
Keen, Raymond Ashton, Benjamin (Kathy) Ashton, Katherine (Andy) Seaver, Joseph
(Brenda) Ashton, and Charles (Josie) Ashton. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and
14 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place following her wishes. Her family and loved ones will celebrate
her life at 2 pm on February 23 at the Coolidge Church of Christ building in Coolidge, Az.
