Leah Rosenthal, 69, of Altamonte Springs, FL, passed away April 16, 2024. She was born July 26, 1954 in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in Art. She was married to Ann Wortham in May, 2014 but they were together since June 1, 1989. She worked for many years in sales at Sprint and retired from CenturyLink in 2014.
Leah was well known and loved in many different media fandoms such as Star Wars, Stargate, Highlander, Blakes 7, Supernatural, Marvel MCU, Star Trek, Westerns, and many more for her wacky cartoons. She sometimes did more serious artwork as well. She was published over the years online and in magazines like Starlog. The Syfy network even featured her cartoons. She loved sharing her artwork and seeing people react. It gave her the greatest joy. She exhibited in many convention art shows over the decades some of the biggest being Worldcon and Dragoncon. When she was at Worldcon in LA. Frank Marshall even bid on her art and bought a piece to give George Lucas. Many actors loved seeing her portray them in her cartoons and asked if they could have copies. Some of them even bought her cartoons in the art show.
Leah was also well known over the years in the Cat Fancy where she exhibited her beloved Somali cats and American Shorthairs. For a time she helped run a large cat club which hosted two large shows a year. Although she hasn't shown or bred cats in many years she still stayed in touch with many of her cat show friends and went to local shows to see the cats and old friends. She currently had three American Shorthairs and one rescue.
Leah was cremated and a memorial gathering for friends and family will be held over the summer. She is survived by her beloved wife and partner of 35 years, Ann Wortham, sisters-in-law Sharon Wortham, Conrad Fackler, and Kimberly Selvage, nieces Shannon Japp and Stephanie Smalling, many more nieces, nephews and cousins and great nephews as well as friends around the world.
