She is survived by her children Steven Sanders, Sandra and Doug Hamilton and Debra and Jim Cupp, her grandchildren Doug and Pam Hamilton, Jr., Mathew and Liz Hamilton, Mitch Hamilton, John Cupp and Michael Cupp, her great-granddaughters Fiona and Ariana Hamilton.
Alice was born on March 19, 1924 to John and Pauline Huntbatch in Geneva, Iowa. She lived with her older brothers and sister, Carl, Fred, Edward and Helen on the farm outside of Geneva. She attended and graduated at the age of 17 from Geneva school where she was in glee club and theater and continued her education at beauty school in Waterloo, Iowa. She had a beauty shop next to her brother Ed's auto shop in Geneva, Iowa.
In 1947, she met Robert C. Sanders at the Electric Dance Hall in Waterloo, Iowa. They were married in Geneva, Iowa at the Methodist Church on July 11, 1948. They traveled to Niagara Falls for their honeymoon the first trip of many that took them both to all United States states except New Jersey. They lived on a small acreage near Chapin, Iowa and were active in the Salem Methodist Church in Chapin, Iowa.
Alice loved to garden, can, cook and craft. She quilted many quilts and taught others how to hand quilt and her pies and chocolate angel food cakes were legendary. She and Bob raised their three children on the farm. In their retirement they traveled to Arizona during the winters and finally in 1990, they moved to Castle Rock, Colorado to be closer to family. They were members of the Methodist Church in Castle Rock, Senior Center and the American Legion. In 2006, they moved into an assisted living community, Valley House in Castle Rock. Alice then moved to Brookside Inn in 2012.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert and her siblings and parents. She taught us to keep on smiling and always keep on keeping on. We will miss her dearly. She asked to be cremated and we will have an interment ceremony in the spring of 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Methodist Church, 1200 South Street, Castle Rock, Colorado, 80104.
