Cecil Everett Lenz

Cecil Lenz was born on November 18th, 1934 near Womack, Missouri. Cecil moved to Englewood, Colorado with his family in the late 1940’s. He passed away in the early morning hours of July 7th following complications from hip surgery. Cecil married Mary Ann Schlueter on March 12th, 1955. Cecil, Mary Ann and their three children, (Cathy, Duane, and Diane) moved to an acreage south of Castle Rock in 1967. Cecil worked in the concrete business, eventually owning his own flatwork concrete business. Upon retiring from pouring concrete he was employed for several years by the Castle Rock and Douglas County Parks and Recreation Departments.

Cecil was active in the Douglas County Farm Bureau, where he served as a Director. He was also heavily involved in the Douglas County 4-H program, being a leader, Fair Board member, and Fair Superintendent. He served on the Douglas County Weed Control commission and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Castle Rock.

Cecil’s real passion was livestock; horses and hogs at times and always cattle. Cecile ran cattle for many years on various locations in Douglas County and has cows until he could no longer work with them due to advancing Parkinson’s disease. He greatly enjoyed his family and was always entertained by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren regardless of their age.

Cecil is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann; Children: Cathy and her husband Virgil Smith of Wesken, Kansas; Duane and his wife Jane of Castle Rock, Colorado and Diane Harris (Kord Kelley) also of Castle Rock, Colorado; Grandchildren: Jason Taylor of Valentine, Nebraska; Julie Bliss (Brody) of Buffalo, Oklahoma and their children, Remington, Gunnar, and Titus; Skyler Lenz of Greeley, Colorado; Logan Lenz of Fort Collins, Colorado; Kayla Harris of Castle Rock, Colorado; and Jessica Harris of Castle Rock, Colorado. He is also survived by his sister Dorothy Ferguson of Deming, New Mexico.
