Charles graduated from Douglas County High School in 1952. He enlisted into the US Army on May 31, 1955 and was honorably discharged on March 24, 1958. Charles met Joan on blind date and were married on December 27, 1955. After he was discharged they settled at Moonridge in a cabin.
They started the square dancing club in Nucla, CO and participated in dancing for 44 years. They enjoyed traveling every summer for 3 weeks. Spanning from Seattle to Kentucky. He had a passion for snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, spending time with family, his 2 sons and camping. Charles was a happy man who loved his family and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Hessler; sons: Steve Hessler and his wife Kathy, Frank Hessler and his wife Danette; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
