Darlene Hillmon

Darlene (Memmott) Hillmon of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on 28 October 2019, at the age of 82. Her final days were spent in Castle Rock, Colorado; surrounded by the love and support of her family, near and far.

Darlene was born in Murray, Utah, the daughter of Clinton L. Memmott and Neva (Bishop) Memmott; who have preceded her in death. Darlene was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in the Shoal Creek Ward for many years. She held church callings in Relief Society and as the Ward librarian. Darlene loved serving her Ward family and community.

Darlene graduated in 1955 from Granite High school, located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Following her graduation, she was offered an opportunity to attend art school or cosmetology school , however, she chose a different path by becoming a wife and a mother of 2 beautiful daughters.

As her path in life kept pressing forward, it redirected her at becoming an artist. This special longing was

a burning desire that resided within her heart. Darlene has been honored by having her paintings hung

in multiple homes, offices, businesses, with photos of her paintings also placed in Kansas City Missouri

Temple corner stone time capsule, during the Temple dedication ceremony. She is still known for her

Kansas City Temple paintings and the blank greeting cards, which were produced from all of her

Paintings throughout her life.

Darlene was a hard worker all her life and was extremely self - sufficient. She worked for Art Galleries,

craft stores, Sears, and with many other businesses; she even made time to teach art classes in her

home to.

As a mother/grandmother, she showed her family how to educate one’s self, by learning to do things, by

being becoming self - sufficient and independent. She restored 5 homes later in life, as well. She had a

great deal of wit, and a keen sense of humor that was appreciated by those who knew her, right up to

the very end of her mortal life.

Surviving Darlene are her two daughters; Kelly (Albrand) Vandiver (along with her husband Daryl);

And Gina (Albrand) Burkhart (along with her husband Tim), her older brother Floyd Memmott (and his

wife Carol), and her youngest brother Darrell Memmott. She took special pride in her 6 grandchildren,

11 great-grandchildren, and 1 fifth-generation grandchild; along with several adoptive/step

grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Darlene’s loving caregivers from the

Oncology Department at Kansas City University Hospital, and New Century Hospice in Castle Rock

Colorado. We truly appreciate their dedication, love and continued support over the past several

months.

Darlene (Memmott) Hillmon’s Celebration of Life Service will be held April 17, 2020, 10:30 am at the

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint building, 5550 N Jackson Avenue Kansas City, Missouri

64119. Luncheon to follow.

The final resting place for Darlene (Memmott) Hillmon will be with her parents in Mount Pleasant City

Cemetery, Sanpete County, Mount Pleasant City, Utah.
