Ginger Mae Jacobs was born on July 14, 1955, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Morris B. and Jean L. (Neftzger) Griffin. Ginger married Wes Jacobs in 1978 and they celebrated 48 years of marriage together before her passing on March 5, 2026.
Ginger graduated from West High School in 1973 and worked at COBE Laboratories in Lakewood as a Quality Control Inspector for Century II kidney dialysis machines until 1985. She became a mother of two and was a homemaker who took care of her growing family of five. She worked as a cook at the schools while her kids were in elementary school.
Ginger devoted many hours to volunteering for the Douglas County 4-H youth organization for over 30 years. She was a livestock leader, assistant sheep superintendent, a 4-H organizational leader for the Cherry Valley Aggies, and up until a year ago, was a volunteer for the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo Livestock Sale. Ginger was also awarded the 4-H Appreciation Award in 1998.
Ginger was a strong, resilient, nurturing and caring caretaker. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, and grandmother. She took care of her oldest son, Jon, after a horrific car accident in 1998, which left him a quadriplegic until his passing in 2011. She took care of her mother, Jean, after being diagnosed with dementia from 2000 until her passing in 2002. Ginger was a mother to not only her own children, but her daughter’s friend Crystal and her son, Ty, by allowing them to live with them while attending college.
Ginger was a devoted and loving grandmother. She watched over her two oldest grandchildren, Braelyn and Cason, as their parents worked. She had an amazing couple of summers watching over her third oldest grandchild, Jace, when he visited. She spent her last Christmas surrounded by family, loving on her two youngest grandchildren Savannah and Kennadi. She opened her home to several family and friends, enjoying the company by hosting dinners and events. She has the best smile that just beamed and comforted everyone.
In addition to her husband, Wes, Ginger is survived by their children Leslie Candelaria and husband Nick of Larkspur, CO and David Jacobs and wife Kati, of Robstown, TX; grandchildren Braelyn, Cason, Jace, Savannah, and Kennadi.
