Glenda was born in Akron, Iowa, and built a life centered on people—family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and anyone lucky enough to cross her path. She spent many years working in hospitality and loved her career as a banquet manager at the Sioux City Country Club and Dakota Dunes Country Club. Glenda had a natural gift for making others feel welcome, and her work reflected what she valued most: service, connection, and community. She adored her grandchildren as they were her pride and joy.
She loved spending time with her friends and had a special way of turning new acquaintances into lifelong friends. You felt like a friend the moment you met her. Glenda was an avid reader, enjoyed volunteering, spending time with her family and enjoyed attending church. She was known for her thoughtful kindness and the smile that seemed to always be on her face.
Glenda was preceded in death by her mother, Norriene Bergen (Rosenbaum); her father, Glen Horton; her brothers, Darwin Horton and Dorian Horton; and her husband, Michael Shook.
She is survived by her daughter, Staci (Fick) Wiebelhaus; her son-in-law, Aaron Wiebelhaus; and her grandchildren, Zachary, Isaac, and Charlie Wiebelhaus.
A service will be held at Waterbury Funeral Home in Sioux City, Iowa, at 10:00 a.m. on January 17, 2026.
