Harry Schumacher

Harry was born on November 28, 1941 on a farm/ranch near Linton, North Dakota. He attended a one-room country schoolhouse until graduation from 8th grade. He attended Linton High School in North Dakota where he participated in football and Future Farmers of America and graduated in 1959. In September of that year he enrolled at Hollywood Technical Institute (Electronic Technology) in Denver, Colorado and graduated in September of 1960.

On November 5, 1960, Harry married Janice Lea Gish at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Denver, Colorado.

He worked for Hathaway Instruments testing electronics components then moved to Stanley Aviation, testing escape capsules (ejection seats) for high-speed aircraft. He then was employed by AMF, at the Titan Missile silos east of Denver, testing electronic controls for missile launches.

In January 1963, he gained employment at Martin Corporation in Denver, CO, now Lockheed/Martin). Harry spent most of his career at Martin, designing and testing military satellites until his retirement in 2002.

Two sons, Larry and Gary, were born while living in Denver. In 1971 the family moved to Castle Rock Colorado.

Harry was involved in many community activities; Cub Master for Cub Scouts, coach for Little League baseball and football, member of the Castle Rock Volunteer Fire Department as firefighter and EMT, two years as Fire Chief. Also was a volunteer at the Castle Rock Task Force.

Harry and Jan enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Alaska, England, Holland, Mexico, Japan and numerous places across the United States. They especially enjoyed bowling and traveling in their motor home to go camping, fishing and seeing various sites in Colorado and gardening at home. They were fond of spending time with their sons, grandchildren and family pets and visiting with many cousins, friends and neighbors.

Son Larry lives in Parker, CO with his wife Dianne. Their children Kayla (Kyle), Heather and Jacob (Meghan) all live in Aurora, CO.

Son Gary lives in Eagle, ID, his wife Heidi passed 5/07. Their children Travis lives in Eagle, ID and Christina lives in Las Vegas NV .

Harry was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Janice Lea Schumacher, parents, Frank & Caroline Schumacher, brothers Wilfred and Frank Jr, daughter-in-law Heidi Schumacher and grandchild Brittney.

He is survived by sons Larry and Gary, daughter-in-law Dianne, grandchildren Kayla, Heather, Jacob, Christina, Travis, Casey, Hanna, great-grandchildren Brianna, Rosaline, Callen, Jason and Mahlia. His sister Frances and brother George and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
