Kathleen Motzko, 63, passed away peacefully at home on December 13.
As a child, Katie lived with her parents in Salem Oregon, graduating from South Salem High School and attending Southern Oregon State College in Ashland. Later she moved to Portland for several years, and then lived in Seattle for 16 years. She was proud to say that during her temp work in Seattle, she worked in every high-rise in Seattle. There, she also developed a deep love for Starbucks coffee.
After 20 years, Katie reconnected with Mark and moved to Southern California. They were married in Las Vegas in 2005. In 2007, Katie and Mark moved to Castle Rock, Colorado where they enjoyed the last 6 years of their life together.
She is survived by her loving husband Mark, their 3 cats, numerous cousins, and her sister Barbara Newburg.
All of her life Katie had a love of animals, wild or tame, large or small. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation on Katie’s behalf to any Humane Society or an animal shelter.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 21. Visitation at 12pm and the Memorial Service at 1pm. A catered reception in her honor will follow.
