

Nate was born on August 22, 1965 to Linda (Hancock) Whitley and Larry Stepp in Visalia, California. He was raised in Rose Bud, Arkansas by his grandparents, Belton (Junior) and Cloea Hancock. Nate became a Christian at a very young age and before death found a renewed relationship with God.
After graduating from Rose Bud High School in 1983, Nate enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1985 and served four years with the 2-8 Field Artillery Lightfighters unit. He then went on to Henderson State University where he earned his private pilot’s license and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation.
In 1993 Nate started his career with the United States Air Force as a Nuclear Ammunitions and Aircraft Maintenance Officer. He was very dedicated to his career in the Air Force and retired in 2011 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Nate was a lifelong car enthusiast, owning in his lifetime more cars than one can count. He was also an avid guitar enthusiast and collector and music lover. He passed this love of cars and his love of music onto his children. After retirement, Nate enjoyed spending his time with his family, (especially spoiling his five grandchildren), as well as traveling and landscaping. He was a brilliant, kind, and funny man who made sure to entertain anyone he encountered with an amusing tale or kind smile.
Nate was predeceased by his grandfather Belton Junior Hancock, his grandmother Cloea Hancock, his uncle Michael Hancock, and his father Larry Stepp.
He is survived by his wife Linda Hancock; his daughter Natashia (Douglas) Petz; his son Sean Hancock; his mother Linda Whitley; his sister Knovalee Scoggins; and his grandchildren Nataliya Petz, Roman Atticus Petz, Anastashia Petz, Canyon Petz, and Anakin Petz, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel in Castle Rock, Colorado on XXX at XXX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer.
