Mark was born in Oslo, Norway on November 19, 1952 and was adopted by Russell and Irene Jensen of Castle Rock, CO when he was 6 months old. Mark graduated from Douglas County High School in 1971 .
Mark married Pat Jensen on February 14, 2003. After spending most of his adult life as a self-proclaimed bachelor, Mark finally met the woman who captured his heart. They met after she beat him in a local football pool. Mark was a die-hard Oakland Raider’s fan and Pat only cheered for the Denver Broncos. The sparks flew instantly and their rivalry over football was something they teased each other about all year long. Mark cherished Pat. He was protective, loving and would do anything for her. She was the center of his world.
Mark’s friendships spanned a lifetime. There wasn’t anything Mark wouldn’t do for a friend. And he never had to be asked. Mark would just show up, ready to help, always smiling and cracking jokes. He was a stand-up man, respected and loved by all who knew him. Mark was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was an avid bowler in his early years, a mean horseshoe thrower and loved to work in his garden growing vegetables for his famous salsa.
Mark worked for the family business, Jensen Interiors, for many years. He was also an EMT and was a member of the original volunteer fire department in Castle Rock. Mark ended his career as a driver for Martin Merietta-Castle Rock Ready Mix. He got such a kick out of teasing and playing jokes on the other drivers he worked with. If Mark was teasing you, he loved you.
Mark is survived by his wife, Pat and their children, Kellee (Ned) Barbee, Kate (Jon) McGwire and Ryan McElhoe; his grandchildren Delaney, Morgan, Aven and Hudson; and his sister Lanee Giesen. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Russell and Irene Jensen.
A memorial service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held at the Eagle’s Club in Castle Rock at a later date.
