Mavis Elaine Stein, age 99, of Parker, Colorado passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024. She was born on January 19, 1925 in St. Leonards-on-sea, Sussex, England the daughter of Leonard and Daisy (Brown) Ryder. Mavis married Howard Olmsted and was later married to Melburn Stein, both of whom precede her in death.
Mavis grew up in England and when she was 17, she joined the Women's Auxiliary of the Roya Air Force in the United Kingdom. She served as a communications switchboard operator during World War II from November 1942 until August 1945, receiving a rank of Leading Aircraft Woman. After the war, Mavis moved to Canada and finally made their home in the United States, where she worked as a devoted mother and caretaker of the family home. In her spare time, Mavis enjoyed traveling, walking, reading, sewing and knitting, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
Mavis is survived by her children Linda Kamerling of Parker, CO and Wendy Williamson of Muskegon, MI; grandchildren Brian Kroll, Jeffrey Kroll, and Chelsea Huck.
