Norita grew up an only child in Minnesota on a dairy farm. Being on the farm spurred her life-long love of animals. After graduating high school she attended St. Catherine College in Minnesota, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Art. Her love for the arts inspired her to play the violin in her younger years and become a painter later in life.
While living in Minnesota she began her love for volunteer work as a member of the Civil Air Patrol. She met Henry Blood at a church dance, and for her, it was love at first sight. She and Henry married on December 26th, 1964 and moved shortly after to California to start their family.
Norita found herself working various jobs while raising her sons. Her primary passion during these years included volunteering for the Red Cross, Church organizations, and the AIDs Foundation. Her family then moved to New Mexico where she continued to attend and be highly involved with church. This is were she fully retired and began volunteering at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. When not volunteering, Norita loved to eat enchiladas at the Little Anita Restaurant and spent her free time watching animated movies and television shows, especially the beloved character Fog Horn Leg Horn.
Her final move found her living in Castle Rock, Colorado since 2021. She was often found reading her favorite mystery and non-fiction books, working on crosswords, and listening to her favorite music; classical and jazz, surrounded by tulips and red roses. Her family will remember her as a kind, bubbly, compassionate, and a selfless person who was not afraid of using guilt as a way to keep her boys in line.
She is survived by her husband Henry Blood; sons: Erik Blood and his fiance Jennifer, and Robert Blood.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.OlingerAndrews.com for the Blood family.
