Please join us in celebrating the life of Phillip (Phil) James Orndorff, loving known as Husband, Dad, Daddy, Pops, Papa, Pop-pop, Grandpa, and Phil….and sometimes the ornery one. Phil was a man who never met a stranger. He made many close friends throughout his life and had so many of his children’s friends call him dad, and their friend’s children who called him Grandpa. He helped, supported, and fed many people throughout the years. His generosity and love of his family was known to all. He was a loyal and dedicated husband, a loving and generous father, and a deeply admired and respected friend.
Phil loved the outdoors, fishing, “some” dogs, not so many cats, and was known for his love for life. His legacy has provided his children, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren a template that will forever guide their lives. Phil didn’t preach, he taught by example, whether it was his work ethic, his love of God, or his desire to help the less fortunate.
As we look back over his 85 years of life, it is hard to call out all of his wonderful qualities and accomplishments, but a quality known by all who knew him was his story telling. He could take the most mundane event and turn it into the best story ever told. He could make you laugh until you cried and bring you joy on a difficult day. He left this world as he would have wanted, peacefully, gently, and quietly while surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
Phillip James Orndorff was born on February 4, 1939, and left to join the Lord on October 3, 2024. Phil was born in Princeton, Missouri and married the love of his life Katherine (Kate/Kathy) Ann Andersen on March 27, 1966. Phil is preceded in death by his brothers, Gene and Billy, sisters, Donna, Roma, and Shirley, his brother-in-law Mike and his sisters-in-law Pam and Diana.
Phil is survived by his wife, Kate (Kathy), his sisters, Carolyn and Madeline, his four children, Claudia, Jeff, Melissa, and Michael, and their respective spouses (Matt, Tiffiny, Rick, and Angie), several nieces and nephews,11 grandchildren and many-many great-grandchildren.
