As thoughts of Steve come forth this day we wish to express our gratitude to you his family and to Steve for his efforts, wisdom and patience in working with his fellow firefighters. He was always there to train, motivate and provide reassurance. His efforts  led to a better West Douglas fire family than anyone will ever know. We both felt comfort when on a call that with Steve along everthing would be okay. He will  continue to be  missed.

Steve was my best friend. I was the best man at his wedding and he was the best man at mine.  We practically grew up together.  I learned how to work on vehicles from Steve and rebuilt my first engine under his guidance.  I also learned how to drive a stick shift hanging out with him.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

I talked with him every day for 15 years ! You will be missed.


I met him in high school and we hang out a lot. We did a lot of fun things together such as hunting, cruising around town, go out of town. I always share this most fun memories of us painting his old ford truck beautiful blue and he wrecked it a day after antique car show.  He was always wanting to learn sign language to communicate with me! He’s awesome guy!! He will be missed! 

I have known Steve for 16 years or so. He started at insituform just after I did. Through the years of him being a coworker we became friends. He would always lend a ear if I was having a bad day or just have a chat about how my boiler was running. I would listen to him tell me about his "awesome" neighbor and how he turn the tables on him. While we will never know why he was taken from us I will always cherish the time I got to talk to him and work with him. I guess it would be a bad time to ask when I'm getting that new boiler. Inside joke between us. It was always next year. Rest easy my friend. One last thing he would always let me pet his dog if he had him in his truck. He knows my love for dogs and knew it would make my day better. 

I had the pleasure of working with Steve for the better part of a decade, and I benefitted from his friendship and leadership in ways that still resonate with me today. He was a good friend, an excellent Firefighter, but also led us through some difficult calls and times. He will be greatly missed and may the Earth be kind to him. 

I wasn't privileged to know Steve as a man but have wonderful memories of him as a boy. He was in my Cub Scout den for 2 years and was always a fun kid! You will be missed.

 

Steve will always be in our thoughts. His dedication to his family ,community and fellow firefighters was beyond extraordinary  and will be a standard we can all aspire to achieve. Rest in peace my friend. Bruce and Nora Boydstun

Steve was always a gentleman.  It was a pleasure and a privilege working with him.  I will miss him.

Steve and I had daily conversations about many thing's, and were able to share life experiences with each other regarding our travels, our lives, and God's grace in our lives.  He was thankful for daily blessings, and the ability to impact lives as a volunteer firefighter.  He will be truly missed by many.
