Parker Adventist Hospital. He was born in Akron, Ohio on July 5, 1951 to William and Ruth
McMahan.
He married his college sweetheart, Krista “Kris” Laube, on June 15, 1974. Bill attended the
University of Akron where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. After attending
university, he went to work with his father as a manufacturer’s representative in Akron. In 1976,
Bill and Kris moved to Cincinnati where he continued his career as a manufacturer’s
representative. In 1999, the family moved to Denver, Colorado where Bill fulfilled his life-long
dream of owning an automotive performance racing shop with his two sons.
His passion for sports car racing spanned 43 years. He engaged in all aspects of racing
including racer, builder, team owner, and crew chief. More than anything, Bill enjoyed sharing
his passions with others. His hobbies extended into scale modeling (especially HO scale
railroading), music, bicycles, darts, and photography. He also enjoyed exploring Colorado’s jeep
trails. His love of the Colorado outdoors extended to taking his granddaughters on hikes and
picnics. He had a witty, dry sense of humor and could offer insightful facts on just about every
subject. Bill was an absolute legend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his wife, Krista McMahan of Parker and two sons, Nick (Lacey) McMahan of
Parker and Adam McMahan of Aurora. He was adored by his granddaughters, Holden and
Rennen McMahan. He is also survived by his mother, Ruth McMahan of Akron, his sister Kathy
(Dave) Perozeni of Binghamton, and brother Mark McMahan of Akron. He was preceded in
death by his father, William “Bill” McMahan II.
