

On December 8, 2012, Doris Fink Cole, 96, Catonsville, died after a brief illness. She led life to the fullest, no matter what she was doing. She was a talented clothing designer, fabulous cook, and good friend to all who knew her. Born and raised in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Katherine F. and Clarence Fink. When her father died in the 1918 flu epidemic, Doris and her mother moved in with her grandmother and two uncles in Forest Park. She was a graduate of Forest Park High School. Doris met the love of her life, Hubert Lee Cole in 1937 and they married the following year. They lived in Crestleigh for many years before moving to the Charlestown Retirement Community. Doris was one of its oldest residents and prided herself in walking everywhere until about three months before her death. Doris and her husband were active in the Shrine organization for many years and were avid world travelers. They were lifelong members of Second English Evangelical Lutheran Church. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Hubie, by two infants, her parents, and by her beloved dogs Woody and Heidi. She is survived by nieces Judith Cole Anderson, Chapel Hill, N.C. and Carole Lee Cole Biddick, Kewanee, Wis., and by nephews the Rev. Dr. Harry A. Cole III, Riverside, Cal., and Wayne H. Cole, Pasadena, Md. She has nine grand nieces and nephews, as well as several great-grand nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held in her honor 11AM, Saturday, January 12th at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Charlestown Retirement Community. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Boumi Shrine Temple, 5050 King Ave. Baltimore, MD 21237, or the charity of your choice.
