

On March 4, 2012, James F. Tully, Jr. of Chester, MD; Husband of the late Jeanne McGlannan and former husband of Jane Tully Kaufman (Nee McCool); Loving father of James F. Tully, III (Rhonda), William A. Tully (Lois), Mark M. Tully (Karen), Sean J. Tully (Cheri) and Mariellen T. Wheeler (James). Dear brother of Patricia Tully Bannan and the late Richard and Albert. Cherished grandfather of nine.
Mr. Tully was born in Dalton, MA on May 30, 1926. He lived in Washington, DC and Philadelphia. During WWII he fought in Germany and France entering combat as a replacement soldier at the Battle of the Bulge. He remained on the front line until the end of the war earning the combat infantryman badge and several campaign ribbons. After the war he attended Georgetown University and was a member of the boxing team in 1948 and 1949. He spent his 30 year career with the Social Security Administration retiring in 1982. After retirement he lived on Kent Island, MD. He was a sailor and an avid artist documenting the natural beauty of the Eastern Shore in oil, water color and pastel.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Sterling Ashton Schwab Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Inc., 1630 Edmondson Ave., Catonsville, MD 21228 on Thursday, March 8th, 3-5pm & 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 9th, 9:30am, at St. Mark Church, 30 Melvin Ave., Catonsville, MD 21228. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville at 11:30am.
