

On January 1, 2026 Joseph Dash passed away surrounded by his family. Joe was predeceased by Elsie, his loving wife of 53 years, his father Joseph, mother Mary and sister Helen. He was also predeceased by his loving partner, Marlene of 17 years. Joe was the adored father of Linda (Gary), Robert (Peggy), Deborah (Will) and James. Joe was the cherished grandfather of Michelle, Nicole and Cassandra along with many nieces and nephews.
Joe served in the Army as a Second Lieutenant following his graduation from OCS training in Fort Riley, Kansas.
Joe was a licensed custom-house broker employed by John S. Connor, a global logistics company, for 47 years. He worked full time at John S. Connor while he raised his family and attended University of Baltimore where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Transportation. He was greatly admired for his expertise in the transportation industry and had many friends and colleagues.
Joe loved spending time with his family talking, laughing, sharing memories and reminiscing. He enjoyed the outdoors and had many hobbies: traveling, skiing, hunting, and trap shooting. We had many special fun family vacations, whether it was going to the beach or touring the United States. Joe and Elsie also did extensive traveling overseas. He also loved to relax & entertain with his family & friends at his cabin in West Virginia. In his later years, he enjoyed all these same activities with his partner Marlene.
Joe shared special times with each of his children and their families. Joe and Linda worked together for many years at John S. Connor. Together with son-in-law Gary, they had much fun and laughter going on ski trips with their Baltimore Ski Club friends.
Joe, Bob and Gary enjoyed hunting with their hunting buddies. He relished their company and camaraderie. Daughter-in-law Peggy entertained Joe with her numerous hilarious stories about life in rural Carroll County.
Debbie and son-in-law Will cheered for the Orioles and Ravens while watching the games with Joe on many Sunday afternoons.
Joe enjoyed the companionship and quiet company of his son Jim as they lived in their home together for many years. He loved to be entertained by his granddaughter Shelly’s dog tales from her work at the dog grooming shop.
Joe Dash will be dearly missed by his family, his many friends, and colleagues.
Family will receive friends from 3-5 & 7-9PM on Monday, January 19 at the Sterling-Ashton-Schwab-Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville, Inc. His family will share reflections and memories at 8:30PM. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association.
