She was born on April 25, 1925 in Asheville, NC. She attended Brevard College and Greensboro College in NC and earned her Master’s Degree in Music. Music was a big part of her life. She gave many performances, both in violin and singing during her high school and college careers. She also played the organ and the piano. She was a public school music teacher in NC and directed choirs at several United Methodist Churches. Later in life she was a CNA in Hanover, PA.
She was a loving owner of many Chihuahuas over the years. At Brinton Woods, you could often find her singing hymns with visiting churches or singing along to Elvis CD’s in her room. She also enjoyed dining out with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Julia Fleming and husband David, Laura Pounds and husband Gregory, and her son Charles (Chuck) Silver and wife Jean, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her twin brother, Hubert L. Owen, Jr. of Cary, NC.
