Stephanie Anne Hunter was born on September 9, 1960, and passed away on March 4, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 65. A longtime resident of Catonsville, Maryland, Stephanie will be remembered as a devoted and compassionate presence in the lives of those who knew her.
Raised in Sudbrook Park in Pikesville, MD Stephanie built a life grounded in steady determination and quiet strength. She was educated at St. Charles in Pikesville, Mt. de Sales Academy in Catonsville, and the University of Baltimore where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, an achievement that reflected her diligent and thoughtful approach to the world.
Stephanie dedicated her professional life to her work as a Senior Developer at Agency Insurance Company (AIC), where she served with loyalty and care since 1990. Her commitment and reliability were hallmarks of her career, and her contributions were valued by those who worked alongside her.
Family, and friends that became family, were central to Stephanie’s life in a way that was uniquely her own. Her two cats, Sheba & Stormy were her children, and she cared for them with the same tender devotion she extended to the people she loved. An avid reader and passionate gardener she took pride in meticulously maintaining her gardens and decorating her yard and home to match the seasons. Her love for turtles, birds, snowmen, and flowers was known by all who knew her. She formed friendships at a young age that truly lasted a lifetime and she enjoyed traveling with them, shopping trips to Hobby Lobby & Home Goods and reminiscing memories from years past, as they experienced all walks of life together. Hosting 4th of July parties, Thanksgiving, and Christmas to bring her family together brought her so much joy and she treated all her nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces/nephews as if they were her own.
She is survived by: her sisters Anne Marie Willis and Patricia Birchess (Damian), her brothers Michael J. Hunter (Janet) and Brian J. Hunter (Rebecca), and her nieces and nephews: Catherine Hlubb, Jennifer Norfolk-Brewster (Jason), Mary Jo Webb (Matas), Colleen Tindall (Trevor), Megan Willis, Christine Hunter-Smith (Tucker), Elizabeth Hunter, Caitlin Hunter, Brandon Hunter (Hannah), and Kyle Hunter. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews: Rhylinn, Lincoln, Ariana, Madelyn, Matthew, Austin, Anna, Gracie, Lindsey, Hayden and Hudson and God-daughter Brogan Hurd. She is preceded in death by her mother Anne Marie Beam and father William J. Hunter and baby sister Cathy Linn Hunter and a host of cats she endlessly loved.
Stephanie’s compassionate heart extended well beyond her home. She supported Passport Animal Rescue and the Baltimore SPCA, caring deeply about finding loving homes for cats and advocating for animals in need. Her kindness, steady spirit, and respectful way of moving through the world will be deeply missed.
