Hard to believe it’s been a year… today, an entire year later.. 

She was a truly amazing person and it’s hard to think she was taken from such a young age. It’s hard to see life without her. Knowing I’m here and she’s not. Thinking about how I will never see her again, not now, not when I’m older, never. I wish I could see her everyday and that I had said everything I wanted before it was too late. 

I met Amber working at Fogo almost two years ago. Immediately we became close. She showed me what a genuine and good friend was. I loved knowing Amber and I am grateful for her everyday. She helped me know my worth and never failed to make me laugh. I miss her incredibly. My favorite memory with Amber was driving around to different drive throughs one night and just getting a little bit of food from each restaurant. We just talked and laughed for hours and got way to much food. I'm so glad to have met her.

Amber was always such a good friend. I looked forward to seeing her before class everyday. She never failed to make me smile or laugh. I'm thankful that she always said yes. I miss Amber everyday and I hope she knows how loved she is. 

I was lucky enough to have been able to play lacrosse with Amber at Summit. During my first couple of months at Summit I didn’t really know any of the girls well and my anxiety really prevented me from getting close to many of them. Amber must of noticed this because if we had a clinic or practice together she would always make an effort for me to feel better, even if it was just something as simple as asking to pass together. 

I have 2 daughters at VTech, and they told me about this tragic accident.  Our hearts break for your loss.  Amber was beautiful and we pray for your family during this painful time.  May God’s loving hands continue to heal you

This picture I took with Amber was on the first football game of the season which also happened to be my birthday. I remember going out with Amber a couple times prior to this day, but despite the fact we weren’t super close, she was so kind to me and tried to make sure I had the best birthday ever. Amber truly loved and cared for her friends so much and I am so grateful that I was able to know her. Her radiant smile and personality will be remembered forever. 

Thank you for being such an important part of my life, and for being one of my best friends. I will forever cherish our trips to Skate City with our families, going to Elitch's for Halloween, talking about boys, and sleeping over at your house after our middle school dances. You were someone I could always be myself around and be weird and crazy with, a friendship like ours is rare in any lifetime. I have the fondest memories with you and I really do appreciate you being in my life. You have made a permanent impression on me and you will be forever missed. I know you are at peace. Fly high, I love you and will always have love for you. I will be praying for you and your family love.

Amber was my family friend. My dad and my mom (Stone & Sarah)have known uncle Mike and Auntie Vivian since 1998 (before we were born). As the picture shows, my brother Alex and I would meet up with Amber and Jacob from time to time when we were babies. Although we did not meet up for a long time, I still remember the fun times that we spent together. No words can describe how sorry I am for the family’s loss. My deepest, most heartfelt condolences are with the family. Amber, you will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. The Shih family wishes comfort and peace for your family during this time. 

I am a staff member at Tech working in the College of Engineering. I, too, read the VT news every day. When I first saw the picture posted on the article I was drawn to her smile and immediately thought what a great picture. I did not know Amber, but reading through all the memories it is apparent her 18yrs of life were full of happiness and that happiness carried to others. I would like to offer you and your family my deepest and most sincere condolences. 

So sorry for your loss. We love all of our “Hokies”.  

Amber, Jacob, and I were picking out a suit for Jacob's dinner with the captain and she was rushing us so fast that I fell down the escalator, It hurt so bad but we all could not stop laughing and it was probably the funniest thing we all have done together. 

Amber was my first best friend I made in elementary school. In elementary school, her family felt like my family and I will be forever grateful for that. Amber and I lost contact for a few years, but kept up on each other’s lives through social media. It felt like we went through high school, graduated, and started college together, from a distance.

Amber and I went all the way from CO to VA together to study at vtech. Going to college together made us a lot closer, and every single moment I shared with her was beyond words. I miss her. 

I was lucky that amber was one of the first people to meet at tech. The first semester of laughs and target runs will be treasured. A girl that always smiled and cracked jokes, was lucky to meet her. Sending much love to all family and friends 💓

Amber was one of my favorite people and close friends at college. She always lit up a room and people were just drawn to her… she was magnetic. She laughed with me, cried with me, and we stressed over our classes together. I’ll forever cherish our lunch dates we went on between chem and engineering and texting her to make sure she was at all her exams on time. She brought joy to me everyday while we exchanged weekend recaps in the bathroom during engineering and fell asleep in chemistry together. We were supposed to take the same classes and help each other with homework for the rest of college, we always joked about going to space together because we thought it would be fun and now I’m going to make our dreams a reality for both of us <3 

I am the mother of a friend of Amber’s. My son, Beau, and Amber were friends and fellow engineering students. Not only did they share mutual friends and hang out together, they were also a support for one another when assignments were tough or topics were confusing. Beau described Amber as “really awesome!”  I cannot begin to imagine the pain you are enduring and I am so sorry.  I can only offer you my heartfelt sympathy and tell you that your beautiful daughter will live on in the memories and stories shared by Beau and her VT friends. You are in my thoughts and prayers!

I transferred to Regis Jesuit High School my junior year not knowing anyone. Amber was the first person to welcome me to the school and invite me places. She was kind, smart, and so welcoming. I miss her so much.

Wonderful piano student - such a brilliant woman that I will miss.  Amber and I would sing and play piano - she loved adding singing to her playing.

Amber was my piano student and a patient in my husband’s dental office- as you can see on photo always a big happy smile!

As a Class of 2016 graduate from the Pamplin College of Business, I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to meet or cross paths with Amber. I like to keep up with VT news and was devastated to learn of Amber’s passing. From the memories shared, it is clear she brought light and love to those who knew her. Sending my thoughts and prayers to Amber’s family and loved ones for peace and healing. Much love from a fellow Hokie. 

Amber was a student in my Foundations of Engineering class in the fall. Though she struggled some during the semester, she persevered and finished the semester well and had such a positive attitude in class. I'll celebrate Amber's life with you in spirit from Christiansburg, VA. 

Amber was a student in my chemistry class this semester. The class was taught online, so I did not get to meet her face-to-face, but we exchanged emails. She was a good student and very enthusiastic. I'm so sorry for your loss.

In 2019 I attended lacrosse camp in Colorado Springs. I was super nervous because I hadn’t had a good experience with making friends at lacrosse camps in the past. At this camp though I had the best time because of Amber. She was so incredibly nice to me, she invited me to hangout in her room. She introduced me to all her friends and made sure I felt welcome. Not only did she do this for me but for other lacrosse girls that obviously didn’t come with friends. She was the most sincere, kind hearted and welcoming person I have ever met. She changed my whole experience and I’m forever grateful for that. I’m so sorry for your loss. Amber was beyond amazing. 

I remember Amber being terrifyingly strong, nothing took her down. We grew from not being friends freshman year to Amber becoming someone I called a friend Senior year, she felt comfortable sharing her stories with me and telling me her feelings. I will never forget the second-semester senior year and our daily walks to anatomy class where she would give me daily recaps of her dreams from the night before and the crazy things that happened in them. Her power and contagious smile was what got me through anatomy. I miss you Amber <3

I recall Amber coming into our house one afternoon and from the other room, I heard the piano play and with it someone singing so beautifully and with such heartfelt feeling that I had to stop what I was doing and go stand beside her in awe to listen. What a beautiful gift she had in her voice and in her contagious smile. May she share her amazing heart and talents with Jesus. We will always remember her fondly.  The Proctor Family
