

Betty R. Mitchell, age 96, of Thornton, CO passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. She was born on October 25, 1921 in Loup City, Nebraska, the daughter of Sylvia (Bender) and Carl Hager. Betty's family lived in Loup City and her Father ran the depot there.
Betty married Robert Mitchell, the love of her life, in Sutton, NE. They opened and ran the bakery together in Grand Island, NE. They closed the bakery in 1953 and chose to move to CO with their three boys, John, Jim and Bill and settled in Westminster.
Betty was a stay at home mom, caring for her three boys, all which were one year apart in age. Betty was involved with their school PTA, serving as the President and then went on to help with the Cub Scouts. Betty helped with her granddaughters, Molli and Kelli’s troop where she served as an assistant leader. Betty enjoyed helping in the school library where Molli and Kelli attended.
Betty later worked in a school library in Broomfield, CO. Bob and Betty built a home in the Southglenn neighborhood in Littleton, CO when their three boys were in Jr High and then attended Arapahoe High School. Betty supported her boys and their band, which all three were involved. Betty later worked at Alcove’s Carpet, along with her husband Bob, as a secretary for inventory.
Betty had a fond love for music, dancing and the Denver Broncos.
Survivors include her sons, John (Susan) Mitchell of FL, James (Janet) Mitchell of FL and William Mitchell of Arvada, CO; four grandchildren, Joseph Mitchell, Molli (Joseph) Ansey of Centennial, CO, Kelli (Abe) Johnson of Erie, CO and Robert Mitchell of Arvada, CO; five great grandchildren, Kati, Lyndsi, Mitchell, Calvin and Grant.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Sylvia Hager; husband, Robert Mitchell and three brothers, William Hager, Earl Hager and Harold Hager, who died in infancy.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 4, 2018 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO. Visitation will be held one hour prior, from 1:00-2:00 pm, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
