I can't believe it has been 2 years since you past away My Second Cousin Brendon Calhoun. I think of you often. I wish I could talk to you one more time and give you A Big Hug. I am Glad you aren't suffering anymore. I Know You Are Watching Over All Of US!!! Your Family and Friends.

I didn’t spend a lot of time with Brendon but the short time we spent together was cherished forever.  Brendon was a kindhearted, selfless, caring, beautiful young man.  When Aaron passed, he (along with the rest of the Calhoun’s) made sure I was “ok”. Always putting everyone else before him.  He offered to help me take care of the kiddos I watch without hesitation.  
Made sure my family didn’t need anything.   Was ready to pray the rosary for nine days.  Like I said “beautiful soul”.

Brendon and I spoke a lot recently about life, spirituality, and our futures.  He was such a loving person who wanted to do nothing but give. It pains me to think that he was only two months older than me and that he had so much more to experience and to give. But as I prayed for Brendon and his loved ones I realized the answer was in a previous conversation, him and I had. Though we lost him much too soon, he was completely whole. He was the strongest man I ever met, he had no problem praying with/for his friends and family, he found his passion, he’s saved lives, and he was completely fine expressing his emotions. He was and still continues to be a huge influence on my life. I will continue to honor him by following his example. We love you Brendon.

Brendon was the cavalry when you needed back up, help, a shoulder to lean on or just simple words to get you by. He could could get your gut busting by a simple joke. He was light when there was dark and calm when there was chaos. Not matter when, where, what time or how hard something was he would get it done in his own way to help everyone before he’d help himself,  He was an inspiration, a brute warrior in the battle of life  that showed true strength and how to stay positive no matter how bad a situation may seem, but most of all he was kind, loving, compassionate, a role model and my older brother. Now he is our angel. Selfishly we want him here and my heart hurts knowing he’s not. But even though our hearts weren’t ready his wings were and god knew he needed a break. I want him to know I miss him beyond words, I miss our talks and hanging out but with a heart and soul so big he definitely shaped me and everything he left behind with how much he cared and with how strong he was. Like I say you better come visit me no matter when or where. Go give heaven some hell and know I love you and I miss you FOREVER AND ALWAYS your little brother ❤️

Brendon you are the best older brother and exceed the expectations of one. I am always going to miss the aspects of you that made you who you are and always were. You are my inspiration because you are the strongest person we have ever know. You are the glue to the family that cannot be replaced. We are going to honor you and your memory. We are going to make you proud. I love you always and forever! Forever and always!

Brendon will always be remembered as a very kind person. I was referred to being Uncle Mike but I wasn’t really his uncle, all of the boys always said Uncle Mike and it always warmed my heart. Their whole family excepted me as part of their family. Very very kind people. I will miss Bren but I know he is in a better place. I keep their family in my heart.

Bren you are so missed by everyone who has ever known you.  But, we know you are with Jesus and you are no longer in pain.  That is the only thought that gives us comfort.  The promise of Heaven is what we all strive for and you got there early.  How wonderful it must be to be so loved by The Lord.   You were always a very special boy who grew to be a wonderful man.  You made your momma so proud with how you handled the adversity and challenges you faced.   RIP Bren!   I promise you that I will do my best to provide your mom with the love and support she will need to live here on earth without you.  


My nephew Bren was a very Special and Selfless Soul, and I was so blessed and honored to have been his Auntie Sel. He was a True Warrior, made of True Strength and True Grit. The daily grind of his pain, and discomfort he  endured in his lifetime, the obstacles he faced even against all odds, he never let you know it.

He loved to laugh and was very quick witted, along with a little dash of sarcasm sprinkled in. His laughter, the way he chuckled, and then say “Really Auntie” with his squinty eyes, tilted head, and a dashing smirk on his face is a rare treasure that will always be engraved in my mind and in my heart.   

We hope you know Hito, that You will Always be Loved, Honored, and Greatly Missed. We Love You Bren Bren, Always & Forever!

I was thirteen years old when Brendon was born.  I'm  Bren's uncle.  I babysat Bren and was thrilled to help him take his first steps.  After learning to walk, Bren was unstoppable.  Just like the Love for him will never end.

My Grandson, Brendon Michael blessed our family on 6/29/1995. 
He is my first Grandchild and I have many wonderful memories of the sweet little boy that grew into a fine young man.  I can't express how much joy Bren brought to our family.  In his short life he accomplished much.  I am honored to be his Grandmother.  My favorite memory of Bren is cooking with him, watching him write our family recipes with great attention to detail in his notebooks and  making tamales together every Christmas Eve.  He intended to open a restaurant and said he would call it Estela's.  I was humbled and proud to be included in his Life goals.  I miss him every day.  His beautiful smile and his heartwarming presence.

Our earthly lives are but a fleeting moment, if only a day or 100 years - it never seems long enough. Brendon's impact on  those he touched, whether it was just a moment or a lifetime long, was so deep and permanent that it defies comparison.  His complete relationship with his mom was just that - complete. Her commitment to him was one of legend - most parents can not even approach it must less attain it. She was the fiercest lioness that went to any length to support, protect and love her precious cub.  That support, protection and love was not an inconvenience - it was just simply what was as much of a part of her as her own soul. And there was no end to the love and support, no task too great, no request too much,  Her well of pure love and strength never ran dry, never even close.  Whatever it took to bask in Brendon's light was completed. What other's may have seen as great sacrifice, she handled effortlessly. The light from the love between these two souls burns eternal.  It is a wonder for all of us to love and cherish. We are blessed by this experience which helps all of us be better humans.  We support Sandi and her family through this most difficult of times.  All love, light and prayer to you all.

Bren- such an amazing man; he was and still is a gift to all who knew him, and to many that had never met him. He was so honored by his family and friends in the memorial service. My heart swelled and came out of my eyes as I listened to each one share from a heart of love and deep loss. I met Bren through his precious mother-Sandi. She wanted so much to see Bren healed and able to go after his dreams. She spent much time helping him and responding to his urgent health problems over these past seven years. She often went without sleep, comfort and many other things to protect and provide him with what he needed.  I had the privilege of spending a day with Sandi and Bren, and I got to listen to Bren tell me about his interests and dreams.  We also spoke about the love and goodness of Father God and prayed for Bren's healing. There is so much disease and brokenness in this world, but there are very few who have suffered as Bren had,  and yet walk in the gracious, thankful and generous attitude that he had. God didn't heal him on this side of heaven, but God gave him  grace to overcome,  to be a help and inspiration to each one he touched along the way. Bren had an inner strength that helped him overcome the difficult obstacles he faced everyday. I join Sandi as she imagines  Bren healed, in no pain and  running the best restaurant with the best food and drink. May he be cooking up a storm, with people coming to dine from hundreds of miles away. His favorite dog, his Buddy, is allowed to eat all the delicious food that hits the floor! Bren- such an amazing man, such a gift to us all.  You lived well and loved well.

Beautiful Brendon, beautiful family. Your life has inspired us to become better people. We learned so much more about you today at your service. We admire you so much and  will always love you. I only met Bren once in 2006. However his Mom Sandi and I exchanged numerous text messages  about Bren's health challenges along the way. The first was on Christmas Eve 2014 and she was bedside with him at The All Children's hospital in Denver. What Bren lived with, the chronic vomiting and the myriad of different  GI Specialists was unimaginable. Two trips to Mayo, on to UCLA and relief came from the hospitals! Sandi's faith never faltered. There was nothing she wouldnt do for her son. I gave her the title, Ste. Mom! I mean no disrespect. 
Bren is now on a new journey with his soul and  spirit. I send Heart First love to his family.

When I first met Brendon in high school through mutual friends I quickly nicknamed him Bird. Brendon, along with Justin and Jordan would squawk at me and peck my shoulder with their faces. The reason for this to this day I do not know but it’s something I’ll never forget. Without trying Brendon made me laugh HYSTERICALLY. From imitating my step team/dance routines to taking my school work & reading them in ridiculous accents. When you saw Brendon & his brothers all together Oh My Gosh it was absolute hilarious pandemonium. From them teasing each other to all three of them nearly bouncing off the walls, you could just tell how much Justin and Jordan loved having an older brother. Though Brendon may have been annoyed at times he loved his brothers so much! Brendon often walked me to class & listened to me vent about high school drama that made me feel like the world was ending. He apologized for others shortcomings then would make me laugh & forget that I was ever upset. One evening after school Brendon missed his ride home to wait for my ride to arrive so I was not alone. Without hesitation he told his friend, "I'm going to stay here and wait with Kaila". I remember the phone call to his parents he said, "I'm sorry I lost track of time & missed my ride.” I knew Brendon was in trouble but he got off the phone came back to sit with me & acted as if absolutely nothing had happened. Brendon was raised a true gentleman & it showed. He was so selfless & is easily the most selfless person I have ever known or ever will know. I knew Brendon was sick, I knew he did not like to talk about it. I wish I had known the severity. My last conversation with Brendon he told me he was getting better & that he “won’t give up.” I knew he wouldn’t My Bird was a warrior & full of heart and passion. My heart breaks for the Calhoun’s. My deepest condolences go out to Jamie, Sandi, and the baby birds Justin and Jordan. To My Bird rest easy & cook up a storm in heaven. <3, Kaila

I Miss You Brendon Alot!!! I Love You Alot!!! I wish I could talk to you again like I did when you were in the hospital one time. I Wish comfort to my Cousin Jamie and his family. I will see you again Second Cousin Brendon Calhoun. I am Very Proud Of You the Person You Are!!!

I met Brendon many years ago when he was a young, awesome,  super funny kid.  Like his Dad he had a great sense of humor and was a delight to be around.  My heart is with the family as they go through this.   I truly believe he will always be with them in spirit still laughing as he was when I knew him.  So much love,  Camille

Brendon was my best friend. I could tell you countless stories of all the shinanogins we got ourselves into growing up, but I've decided to save one story for those who would like to read. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in August of this year. Brendon's mom, Sandi, went through the exact same thing, so once I heard about the diagnoses, instinctively, Brendon was the first one I called.  He was at the hospital at the time and I wasn't able to get through to him, just left him a voicemail about what was going on. When he was feeling better he gave me a call and I missed it... He left me a voicemail, that I still have, telling me that it's hard to go through, that he wishes he had done things differently for his mom, but that he knows I would do things better than he could. He told me that he loved me, that things will be alright in the end. I miss you, Bredon. More than words will ever tell. I'm just going to make you a proud best friend. Thank you for being apart of my life and I love you for everything you've done for me

I remember Bredon's humor. He was always so cute,loving and such a nice person . He was very loving of his family and  Brendon and his brothers were so funny. We will miss him very much but will always carry him in our hearts and minds. You can never truly be separted from your loved ones.Until we meet again.love you honey. Auntie vickie and family
