Clifford H. Overly of Aurora, Colorado passed from this life on February 3, 2021 with his wife Eileen by his side. Born on October 11, 1931 to Alma and Leland Overly, Clifford was the oldest of three children born to the family. He was a Navy Veteran and served during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Black. After returning home from the war early because his father suffered a heart attack, Clifford cared for his mother and siblings as well as the family farm. Cliff met his beautiful bride, Eileen McEwen of Strasburg after his time serving in Korea. They were married August 16, 1956 at Strasburg Presbyterian Church.
Clifford was an avid gardener and took great pride in not only his garden plot at Heather Gardens but also in the rose beds and flower pots which he cared for around their building. Clifford shared the fruits of his labor from his garden with neighbors, family and friends often. As an avid and devoted sports fan, Clifford enjoyed stock car racing, football and especially basketball. He and Eileen spent many winters at their home in Mesa, Arizona as well as summer and gardening at his home at Heather Gardens in Aurora, Colorado. Clifford and Eileen lived their life to the fullest. They visited Hawaii many times as well as a trip to Australia and New Zealand after retiring from Ford Motor Company where he worked for 46 years as a picker/packer and eventually as a security supervisor.
Clifford was a resolute family man and always ensured his family was cared for and loved. After his father Leland passed away Cliff took care of his mother and siblings as well as anyone in his family who needed help. He was kind and generous, and worked hard to ensure that those that he loved were cared for, securing his wife’s future safety in memory care was his greatest concern until the very end.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Eileen Overly, and various other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Alma Overly, his sister Margaret Cooper, brother Richard Overly, nephew Don Overly and niece Jan Linnebur (nee Overly) and numerous extended family.
