On Thursday, September 14, 2017, epilepsy stole another one of the good guys. Dan Rafferty was taken from those he loved. Epilepsy stole so much from his life, but that is not what we focus on now. He was so much more.
Today, we remember he was the greatest big brother in the world to Moira and Kate, the "fun uncle" to David III, Alyssa, Sophia, Dominic, Rose, Patrick… and he would have been to the newest baby joining us in November.
No son was more fiercely loved than he was by Eileen and Jerry Rafferty. They loved him, advocated for him, and protected him in any way possible. Eileen dedicated more to helping and protecting him than could possibly be expected of any human being.
Perhaps most important, he had the chance to find true love. Marrying Emily was the happiest day of his life and the many years they spent together brought him exceptional joy. Emily's family also treated Dan incredibly. Dan and Emily were able to face the joys and hardships of life together and create a beautiful family with their darling dogs, Molly, Izzy, Cookie, and Ripley. He loved and was loved so deeply by his Emily.
Dan is gone. But he knew he was loved. Rest In Peace, Danny Boy. You will be loved forever by Eileen and Gerald Rafferty, Emily Rafferty, Tom and Betsy Sarber, Sheila Fitzsimmons and Gregory Aldridge, The May Family, The Sharkey Family and the Petrocco family.
A celebration of Dan's life will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 2:00pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121.
