Dave was born in Denver Colorado on November 28, 1949 to his parents Tommy and LaVinia (Pippert). In 1968 he married his wife of 52 years Debora (Zugschwerdt) and they have two sons Daniel and Darrell (deceased). Dave attended Englewood Schools and later Front Range College to receive an associate’s degree in Machinist Programing. Dave worked at Gates Rubber Company as a machinist for 18 years then transferred into research and development. Gates was a good place to work and he was happy to retire after 30 years. Although this was not the end of his working days he was offered a job at The Denver Mint when the State coins were being printed it was an interesting time. After 10 years with the Mint Dave was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s and had to retire.
Over the years he worked on our homes and could write a book about the projects we would take on. Our boys would say they knew the family recipe for mixing concrete and it was our standard. In 1999 Dan married Shawna we are so happy to have her as a Weems family member.
Dave encouraged the boys to participate in sports and even helped coaching a few years. We had season tickets to the Rockies Games that we all enjoyed. There were a few opportunities to attend the Bronco games he never gave up on them. Dave enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, jeeping, golfing and being at the mountain cabin in Tabernash. We were lucky to have traveled a lot with family and friends, we really did see the world. Life was lived and loved it was unfortunate that Alzheimer’s was a part of his life. It took a hold of him but he never complained there was always a smile, dance and a whistle.
He is survived by his Wife Debora, Son Daniel & Shawna (Frey) and Brother Mike. Dave was preceded in death by his Parents Tommy Sr & LaVinia, Brother Tommy Jr and Son Darrell.
We love him dearly and will miss him, Debora, Dan and Shawna
