Denise Renee Daniel, age 69, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 23, 2025, at her home surrounded by love. She is now in glory with her Lord and Savior; whole, complete, and without pain.
Born on December 20, 1955, in Riverside, California, Denise was one of eight children of the late Shirley Mae Rayson and Hubert Wade Underwood. She graduated from high school in 1975 and soon began building a life marked by faith, devotion to family, and quiet strength.
Denise married her high school sweetheart, John Daniel, and the two shared a loving marriage of 51 years — 55 years together in all. Their marriage was a beautiful testimony to lasting love and faithfulness, even amidst trials. Together they raised three children: Anthony Daniel, Athena Kowal, and Alicia Kessener, who were the joy of her heart and the evidence of a life well lived.
For over two decades, Denise worked alongside John, with different duties, responsibilities and titles at Artistic Iron; the family business started by John. She worked in almost every aspect of the company, including cleaning toilets (with a smile!). Her loyalty, organization, and quiet efficiency were invaluable to John and the company as a whole. After Artistic, Denise went on to work cleaning houses with her sister Debbie Roybal. Together they served and deeply cared for many of their clients, often becoming a vital part of their lives. Denise was never one to sit still, often jumping in wherever something was needed. She truly lived a life of service to others and shone the light of Jesus in all that she did.
Denise served as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, pouring her love and wisdom into the lives of her six grandchildren: Malachi Kessener, Enzo Kowal, Brason Kessener, Saige Kowal, Elijah Kessener, and Adalia Kessener. She delighted in the simple joys of life — reading, crocheting, cooking for and with her family (cookie day!!!), and enjoying God's creation through camping, hunting, and time spent in nature with those she loved. She found joy and peace in the outdoors, whether that be sitting in a park in Cripple Creek or Elk Horn Mountain or “playing” in her garden at home with the grandchildren.
Her faith guided her throughout her life, and she served faithfully at Littleton Baptist Church, teaching the 4- and 5-year-olds, serving in Awana and helping tirelessly in the church kitchen. She was never one to seek attention or recognition. Instead she quietly and faithfully served countless souls in her time at Littleton Baptist Church.
Denise will be remembered for her warmth, her unwavering love for her family and friends, and her servant's heart.
