Devon Jeffery Faehnrich was born October 18, 2001 in Denver, Colorado. He is the oldest of three children born to Debbie and Jeffrey Faehnrich. Devon attended Legacy High School and graduated in 2020. He then enlisted in the United States Navy in hopes of becoming a Naval Aviator.
Devon loved the outdoors. He grew up hunting, fishing, hiking and camping. He was a natural born athlete. He grew up playing and loving competitive sports; like soccer, football, and wrestling. He was always up for an adventure and spent his winters snowboarding and summers enjoying water sports and golfing. Devon was fearless in everything he did. Learning to snow ski is usually a little intimidating for most people, but not Devon. As soon as he was able to stand up on skis, Devon bombed down the hill and flew off of a jump. The crash at the bottom of the jump didn’t slow him down, he actually hit the jump with more speed on his next attempt. Some of the most memorable moments with Devon include countless hours of video games, board games with the family, dancing, and traveling around the country. His favorite football team was the Denver Broncos.
He began his journey with the United States Navy in April, 2021. Upon completing recruit training in Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Basic Enlisted Submarine School and Electronics Technician Navigation “A” School in Groton, Connecticut prior to reporting to his first operational duty assignment. On March 30, 2022, he reported to the Navigation Department on the Virginia-class submarine, Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Montana (SSN 794) in Norfolk, VA. He was a member of the crew during the ship's commissioning which gave him the prestigious honor of becoming a Plankowner.
