Diane Standerfer, 80, peacefully passed away on January 5, 2023 in Durant, Oklahoma with family & friends at her side. Diane had been navigating the effects of a stroke from 2014 and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2020. She was loved by many, and remained cheerful and optimistic to the end. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her two sons, Kyle and daughter-in-law Misty of Broomfield, Colorado and Kirk of Durant, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck and her brother Kenneth Boyd, both in 2008.
Diane was born May 26, 1942 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Susie and Auther Joe Boyd. They preceded her in death in 2001 and 1987, respectively. Diane graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1960 and remained in Sulphur Springs working for her Dad at Babcock Bros. before moving to Dallas to work for Mercantile Bank from 1963 -1968. She made many friends during those years whom she kept in touch with to the end of her life. On January 11, 1969 she married Chuck Standerfer at Davis Street Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs and they began their 34 years of marriage in Greenville, Texas where their first son Kyle was born that year. In 1972 they moved to Garland, Texas and in 1974 their younger son Kirk arrived. In 1979 the family moved to Littleton, Colorado and then as empty nesters she & Chuck settled in Castle Pines, Colorado from 2001 where she remained until 2014.
Diane worked as a secretary for Martin-Marietta from 1981-1985 and then for The Evaluator Group in the late 90s and early 2000s. However, her heart and talents shined through the most as a proud homemaker, where she honed her ‘famous’ beef brisket recipe amongst many others. She became known for her culinary talents and loved to entertain family & friends. Diane was an active member of Davis Street Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas, University Hills Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado and at Grace Chapel in Castle Rock, Colorado.
Diane suffered a life-altering stroke in 2014 which required that she receive daily care in order to continue living at home. Her son Kirk served as her full-time caregiver from then until her death.
Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. The family is planning a memorial service in her honor this summer, date to be determined.
