Dolores Marie (Evans) Maher was born March 12th 1929 in Denver Colorado to George W. and Ora L. (Powers) Evans. She was the youngest of eight children. When Dolores was six years old her mother passed away, leaving her father and brothers to raise her and her sister. She grew up during the depression and attended Denver public schools through the 10th grade.
In 1947 she met Art Maher, and two months later on February 8th 1948 they were married. Together Art and Dolores started building their life together. They moved to California for one year and welcomed their first son Michael LeRoy on December 29th 1948. They moved back to Colorado where three more children were born, Thomas Arthur, on September 17,1950 and unfortunately passed away two days later. Patrick Joseph on December 4th 1951, and Cindy Marie came along February 16th 1954. In 1957 Art and Dolores bought their house in Englewood where she resided for 64 years until her time of death.
Dolores was a loving wife and mom. In addition to caring for her children, she also worked outside the home. Taking on jobs such as working at the donut factory, a cook for the Sheridan school district, and worked for The American Humane Association. Art and Dolores also started a commercial cleaning service.
Dolores was a crafter, very few times would you ever see her without her crochet needles in hand making an afghan for a new baby, or behind her sewing machine making dresses for granddaughters. She helped teach her daughter and grand daughters how to sew. She also had a niche for ceramics, making various items for craft shows.
The one thing everyone remembers most about Dolores is she LOVED the Denver Broncos. Sundays were for Bronco games, if you stopped by for a visit you better have been a Broncos fan too. In addition Dolores would always make sure there was a big Sunday dinner, of course with all the fixings.
In her later years Dolores started attending water aerobics and played Bunco and cards with her friends who she thought very dearly of.
On April 19th 2021 Dolores passed away at her home at the age of 92.
