Our hearts are truly broken over the passing of Donna Marie Poston, 81, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, who passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, surrounded by many loved ones. Her sudden departure has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. A cherished mother, Nana, Big Nana, sister, auntie, and friend, Donna was the soul of every room, the heart of her family, and a quiet force of love, resilience, and joy.
Born in 1943 in Los Angeles, California, Donna was the daughter of Arthur and Julia Massaro. In her twenties, she became a single mother, and in the face of life’s toughest challenges, she rose devoted, determined, and unstoppable. She defied every odd to build a beautiful life for her children, rooted in strength and selflessness.
In 1975, Donna married the love of her life, Jerry Tilton Poston. Together, they forged a legacy of love and vision, moving to Highlands Ranch, Colorado, where Jerry helped pioneer the development of the community with Mission Viejo. Donna’s legacy grew when she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Metropolitan State College of Denver. She was forever curious about the human spirit and always sought to better understand others.
But Donna's greatest joy was never found in accolades or accomplishments. Her most treasured role was being "Nana" and "Big Nana,” not just to her eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren but to everyone who needed someone to love them unconditionally. She had a gift for making people feel seen. Her laughter filled homes, hugs soothed storms, and open arms welcomed everyone without hesitation.
She was the kind of woman who remembered your favorite candy, showed up without being asked, and listened wholeheartedly. She loved boldly and left every room brighter than she found it. Donna was the keeper of traditions, the maker of memories, and the heart beating at her family's center.
She is survived by her devoted children, Arthur Hinojos (Darlene Hinojos), Joanne Hinojos-Baker (Mark Baker), and Daniel Hinojos (Kyleen Hinojos); her grandchildren: Jordyn Licurgo (Drew Licurgo), Joshua Davis, Dillon Hinojos (Morgan Hinojos), Stephanie Baker-Miller (Brian Miller), Brianna Hinojos, Tristen Hinojos, Nicholas Hinojos, and Annie Rose Baker; her great-grandchildren: Austin Powell, Hayden Hinojos, Sonny Licurgo, and Jaren Hinojos; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends. She now reunites in heaven with her beloved soulmate and husband, Jerry Tilton Poston.
A funeral service to celebrate Donna’s extraordinary life will be held on May 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
To know Donna was to be loved by her. Her memory will forever live on in her grandchildren's laughter, the warmth of family gatherings, and the countless lives she touched simply by being herself. She was our constant compass and comfort; she will be missed more than words can ever express.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in your name to the Children’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Foundation for Donna’s great nephew, Henry David Kougias: https://www.cncfhope.org/donate/
