Dorothy Jeanne Russom, better known as Jeanne, passed away peacefully at the age of 93, on January 5th, 2022. She was born October 23, 1928 in Minneapolis, MN to Charles H and Dorothy M Haverland. She married her first love, Glenn Edward Carlson, in 1947 who preceded her in death in 1969. Jeanne was also blessed with two more wonderful husbands; Emmet H. Cagley who passed in 1983 and David Russom who passed in 2011.
Jeanne loved to travel and be around people. She was a sweet, outgoing, bubbly person that loved to socialize. She was also caring, compassionate and extremely accepting of others. Jeanne was loved dearly by her close friends and family and was adored by many others.
Unfortunately, Jeanne was diagnosed with dementia in 2014. The disease robbed her of all her amazing qualities and sadly took her mind before she was taken from this earth. Simply stated, if you knew Jeanne before the illness you really understand how sad the disease really is. Until her health condition made it impossible, Jeanne was active in the life of the church, an active member of many groups, and had more friends than a person could count.
Jeanne was a member of the Daughters of the Nile group where she sang, danced, and eventually was nominated a Queen in 1993. She loved the group and had many fond memories and stories. Jeanne was also a member of a group in CO called the newcomers which she joined back in the 70’s and she still kept in touch with some members to her very last days.
Jeanne was also known to be quite the seamstress over her many years, making and creating beautiful clothes for her family and friends. Jeanne was very talented at making anything with her hands. She was excellent at crafts, needlepoint, crochet, and so much more.
Jeanne is survived by her brother Michael L. Haverland, son and his partner Terry Carlson and Dean Cail; daughter Lynn Patton; son and wife Kevin and Shannan Carlson; grandchildren, TJ and Lisa Theisen, Clayton Patton, Sean Keenan, Brittney Keelin, and Taryn Carlson.
Jeanne was sadly preceded in death by her brother Charles Haverland Jr., her daughter Kimberly Keenan, and her grandson, Dylan Carlson. All whom loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, grace (when pertinent) and undying love and caring for them.
Please join us celebrating her life on February 4th, 2022, 2 p.m.at Olinger Chapel Hills Mortuary, 6601 S. Colorado Blvd. Centennial, CO.
