passed away at home with family by his side on September 12th, 2010. He had recently
celebrated his 58th birthday and his 34th wedding anniversary.
Dwight was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota to parents Ernest and Barbara Kline. At
an early age his family moved to Everett, Washington where he attended Everett public
schools and graduated from Everett High School in 1970. In 1975 he graduated from
Western Washington University in Bellingham with a degree in Computer Science. While
living in Bellingham he met the love of his life, Patty Strickland. They were married in
Bellingham on September 11, 1976. While living in Washington, their three daughters
were born: Susan, and twins Laurie and Jayna. The family moved to Centennial, Colorado
in November 1991, where they enjoyed raising their family together. Dwight was most
pleased in recent years to be able to see the marriages of daughters Susan and Laurie,
and the births of his three grandchildren (two of them born this year).
Dwight worked in computer software development throughout his career, including
over 21 years with Nordstrom and the past 4 years at OppenheimerFunds. He was
regarded as an expert in mainframe computer systems.
Dwight enjoyed woodworking and made many pieces of fine furniture in his workshop
that are still in daily use by his family. He loved working on cars and delighted in making
difficult repairs that most of us would not tackle. Above all, Dwight enjoyed spending
time with his family celebrating special events, birthdays, and holidays, visiting his
daughters’ homes, and bonding with his grandchildren.
Dwight is survived by his wife Patty; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Travis Tripp of
Fort Collins, CO; daughter and son-in-law Laurie and Sean Moran of Littleton, CO; daughter
Jayna Kline of Denver, CO; mother Barbara Kline of Everett, WA; brother and sister-in-law
Duane and Judy Kline and nephew Nick Kline of Portland, ME; grandsons Tavien Tripp and
Bergen Moran; granddaughter Avrielle Tripp; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family expresses their deep appreciation for the loving care they received from
the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Exempla St. Joseph Comprehensive Cancer Center,
the University of Colorado Cancer Center, and The Denver Hospice, and for the many
relatives, friends, neighbors, and church family who have so faithfully prayed and so
graciously and generously provided for their needs.
