He is survived by Ruth, his wife of 72 years, his son, Jerry, and his daughters, Meg Akins, Theresa McPherson, and Laura Adams, as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Earl was a tradesman through most of his lifetime and was always ready to help family and friends with building or remodeling projects. He would never accept payment, he had a big heart and loved to share his time and talent to help others. Earl spent his childhood in or around Morrice, Michigan. He went to Morrice public schools and graduated from Morrice High School in 1950. He had many fond memories of playing basketball and football on his high school teams. Just after Earl and Ruth were married, he joined the US Navy Reserves and was very proud to serve his country for 8 years. After living in Michigan, Tennessee, Florida and Colorado, they returned to Colorado in 2018 to enjoy the milder climate and the mountains that he loved.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Grace, and grandchildren Michael, Allen, Stacey and Stephanie. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary.
