It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elouise Elaine Velasquez Montijo, age 92, after sustaining a fracture. She was born in Trinidad, CO in 1932 to Jim and Agnes Velasquez. Elouise received an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science from DU. She retired from the US Geological Survey at the Denver Federal Center after 27 years as an Administrative Specialist. Elouise is predeceased by the love of her life, Frank Montijo. They were married in 1955 and lived in Denver, CO, Santa Barbara, CA, Greeley, CO, and Lakewood, CO. They loved to travel and belonged to the Ports of Call travel club. For their 50th and 60th anniversaries, they treated their children and grandchildren to an Alaskan cruise and a cruise of the Hawai’ian Islands. Her hobbies included crafts, camping, and supporting her extended family and friends. She is survived by her 3 sons, Gary (Martha), Allen (Lisa), and Jim (Sandra), 6 grandchildren, Julia Montijo, David Montijo (Jacqueline), Jennifer Montijo, Kristen Harrison (Cody), Dominique Morse (Joshua), and Ashley Montijo (Chase), brother-in-law Hank Montijo, niece Denise Harrison (Alan), and nephew Mike Montijo (Lisa). She has 1 great grandson, Carson Harrison, and another on the way. Mom/grandma/great-grandma was well loved, loved well, and will be sorely missed.
