Beverly Fay Tignor Moss, known simply as “Fay” to all who loved her, passed away peacefully in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, on March 21, 2025, at the age of 85. Her life was marked by compassion, quiet strength, and an unwavering dedication to caring for others.
Born on December 4, 1939, in Richmond, Virginia, Fay was the daughter of Clarence Tignor and Adeline (Deaner) Tignor and was lovingly raised by her stepmother, Florence Tignor. She cherished her blended family and is survived by her stepsister, Betty Olson, and stepbrother, Bryant Orrock.
Fay’s heart for service led her to a lifelong career in nursing. After graduating from Highland Springs High School, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical College of Virginia and later a master’s degree in Nursing from UCLA. She began her work as a pediatric nurse, eventually becoming a beloved educator of future nurses at the College of Santa Fe, where she was honored as Nurse Educator of the Year in 1984 by the New Mexico Nurses’ Association. She later continued her service as a school nurse, supporting the health and well-being of children in northern New Mexico communities.
Beyond her professional life, Fay found joy in the simple, beautiful things: tending to her garden, sewing with care and creativity, and traveling to new places. A gifted musician, she began playing piano and organ as a child and offered her talents faithfully to the First Baptist Church of Los Alamos, NM, where she also played handbells and participated in many musical gatherings over the years.
Fay was deeply shaped by the love of family and enduring friendships. She remained close throughout her life to her beloved cousin and childhood friend, Nancy Taylor, who preceded her in death. She is also survived by her dear childhood friend, Merrillyn Jones, whose friendship spanned more than seven decades.
Her faith was the quiet foundation of her life—a constant thread of comfort and purpose. She lived her beliefs through kindness, devotion, and generosity, often expressed through music and acts of care.
Fay is survived by her loving husband, Calvin E. Moss; her son, Stephen C. Moss, and his wife, Jennifer G. Moss; and her cherished granddaughters, Sophie, Olivia, and Ellie, who brought her endless pride and joy.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made in her memory to a nursing scholarship fund of your choice.
Her memory will live on in every hymn played, every garden in bloom, and every life she touched with gentleness and grace.
